Unicorn Time isn't like our Time. It isn't precisely linear. The Unicorns speak of the Four Great Ages: chapters of their history, and yet they are not Ages as we would define them: they are worlds, dimensions of their own. The Unicorns travel freely between all four. Unicorn time is spherical, with the Gold Age a glorious, timeless dawn to which they can always return. Here then, is the source of the Unicorns' immortality, for what hold can Time have on a creature so skilled in traversing it?
